Observations on the 4-4-0 Locommotive VirtualMec model Building The block boiler+cabin is bolted to the rolling train by solely two bolts in the rear. It's held in place by the lug of the narrow double angled entering the front end of the boiler and by the elongated holes in the 2-1/2" x 1-1/2" plates in the boiler matching the bolts facing outwards in the narrow 4 1/2" strip. The inside faces and the top rear face of the water tank in the tender are an aggregate that's just dropped in place and held by the two 3 1/2" strips that for mthe top sides of the tank. The narrow obtuse double angles holding the cylinders should be slightly bent so these are in line with the axle of the power wheels. Perhaps straight narrow strips would do the job better. Virtualmec workarounds The block "helpers" is to be hidden and its parts should not be counted, as they are the cheats I used to hold the VM model together The strip to rod connector behind the smokestack is supposed to be a bell, i used a railway buffer in the real model. Threaded pins used as axles in main wheels should be the French version without a fixed nut,so both nuts can be situated towards the end of the thread so it does'nt protrude and interfer with the connecting bars. The triangular plates in the smokestack should be the cupped version for better effect. The two 1" pulleys in the front light should be two wheel hub discs 331N. They hold the nuts in the light frame between them, fixing the frame to the rest of the model.
